Dear Colleagues,

What a month it’s been! We just wrapped up our annual Leadership Conference, and I’m still feeling inspired by all the incredible conversations, shared experiences, and moments of connection. Whether you joined us in person or followed along on social media, I think we can all agree—it was truly energizing to see so many volunteers come together with a shared passion for growing people and strengthening SHRM Florida.

One of my favorite takeaways from the conference was how leadership development really comes down to intentionality—taking the time to listen, to mentor, and to create opportunities for others to shine. Those are the kinds of moments that shape workplace culture in lasting ways. Seeing that commitment reflected in our community was a wonderful reminder that leadership is something we all practice, not just something we teach.

And now, as we turn the calendar toward Thanksgiving, I find myself thinking about gratitude—something we talk about often but don’t always slow down enough to feel. This season offers a perfect opportunity to pause and appreciate the people who make our workdays brighter: the colleagues who lend a hand without being asked, the teams who go the extra mile, and the leaders who make space for others to succeed.

Before the holiday rush begins, I want to take a moment to say thank you—for being part of this community, for investing in your own growth, and for continuing to make the workplace a better, more human place. The work we do in HR isn’t always easy, but it’s deeply meaningful. And when we come together to learn, share, and celebrate each other’s efforts, it reminds me how much good we can create.

Wishing you a peaceful and joyful Thanksgiving filled with good food, good company, and well-deserved rest.

Warm regards,

Alan Bernstein, SHRM-SCP
